New-York based real estate developer, Extell Development Company, secures a $600 million construction loan for Four Seasons Resort and Residences Deer Valley within Deer Valley East Village. As North America’s first new luxury alpine village to be developed in more than 40 years, this is a huge win for all teams involved. Just 40-minutes from Salt Lake City International Airport, Deer Valley East Village’s expansion will make its debut for the 2025/2026 ski season. “This loan underscores the tremendous confidence the market has in the Four Seasons brand, who we have partnered with on three separate projects, as well as our commitment to Deer Valley East Village,” said Gary Barnett, Founder and Chairman of Extell Development Company.
The Four Seasons brand already made waves when they announced the 2026 launch of their first-ever luxury yacht, with Captain Kate McCue at the helm, and now they’ve appointed a new CEO to oversee this new venture. A Four Seasons vet for over 25 years and an extensive background within the luxury hospitality industry, Ben Trodd was a natural fit. “Ben brings a rare combination of brand and luxury insight, operational rigour and leadership vision. Two 220-meter towers are coming to Dubai, as Arada announces the launch of Akala Hotel & Residences. The new concept will blend wellness and hospitality in the hopes of positioning Dubai as the “world’s first precision wellness destination.” The project will include 534 branded residences and a slew of luxury wellness amenities including: A boutique medical clinic, a high-performance fitness club, a full-service hydrothermal experience with saunas, hammams, thalassotherapy pools and luxury treatment suites, and a 24-hour lifestyle concierge.

Ever heard of Wadi Safar? The UNESCO World Heritage Site in Saudi Arabia recently unveiled plans for a luxury build comprising 80 guestrooms and 37 branded residences. While Amansamar is still under construction, and will join the portfolio of other Aman residences across the Globe. Amenities will include: a hammam, banya (bath) houses, hydrotherapy facilities, a racquet club, multiple pools, and kids club. Through minimalist designs and calm surroundings, the property will promote “peace and privacy”.
Big news for Calgary, as plans have been unveiled to open three new luxury hotels. W Calgary, JW Marriott Calgary, and an Autograph Collection Hotel at Stampede Park are underway, and expected to open between 2028-2030. Redefining luxury hospitality in the region, the W Calgary and JW Marriott Calgary will be housed in two of the region’s tallest residential towers. “We are thrilled to closely collaborate with Truman and Louson, whose combined passion and love for Calgary will be a perfect complement to the elevated service that guests have come to expect from the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio,” said Paul Cahill, Chief Operating Officer, Canada, Marriott International.
Through a joint venture, Minor Hotels announces the signing of the Japanese-based Anantara Karuizawa Retreat. Surrounded by nature on a 10-acre site with views of Mount Asama, the property will feature an array of suites and branded residences. Conveniently located near the bullet train (Karuizawa Hokuriku Shinkansen), access to Tokyo will be easier than ever. Residents and guests can expect three food and beverage outlets, a spa and onsen, pool, fitness center, library, and private residents’ lounge.
