Along more than 2 miles of white sands and blue waters, Nobu Beach Inn is poised to open its 400 acre property by early 2026. Previously a favorite hideaway for Princess Diana, Barbuda is one of the 2 major islands that make up Antigua & Barbuda, known for its secluded pink beaches and vibrant reefs.
Babrbuda is known for its remoteness and slow pace of living, so it’s only fitting that Nobu Beach Inn is designed to offer seclusion and personalized service set along the Island’s ‘Green Corridor’. With a total of 36 bedrooms in 17 bungalow cottages, as well as real estate offerings and several world-class restaurants (including Nobu). Designed by the landscape architect Raymond Jungles for those seeking an escape, the property offers an intimate living space and alcoves hidden amongst lush planting and meandering walkways.
Passionate about creating something of lasting significance to the Island, Robert De Niro first saw the site over 30 years ago and fell in love with its rugged beauty and serenity. Surrounded by lush rainforests and rolling hills on what’s known as Barbuda’s ‘Green Corridor’, the project commits to ecologically sensitive development, renewable energy, and community enhancements, aligning with Barbuda’s rich tradition of respecting nature.
Senior Sustainable Tourism Officer and head of the Sustainable Tourism Unit in Antigua and Barbuda’s Ministry of Tourism, Vashti Ramsey-Casimir says, “The South side was chosen as it has the highest scenic value on the island. It also has the highest concentration of locally owned and managed tourism businesses that are all making steps towards achieving the aforementioned principles.”
A co-founder and principal of Nobu Hospitality, De Niro plays a large role in shaping the brand’s vision along with his two partners, Daniel Shamoon and James Packer. While the Nobu Hotels are individually owned and operate under Nobu Hotels management and licensing agreements, Nobu Beach Inn is the only Nobu Hotel where De Niro is also the owner.
Without tarnishing the unspoiled surroundings, De Niro is extremely involved in all design decisions, and has guided the focus towards emphasizing natural materials and low-density construction to blend seamlessly with the surrounding Caribbean landscape. Rooms play on the concept of indoor-outdoor living with floor-to-ceiling windows, ample outdoor space, and neutral tones that blend seamlessly with the greenery and white sands just steps away.
Island life certainly comes into play with the array of bespoke experiences offered, including sailing expeditions, secluded picnics, and marine biology sessions. Guests can enjoy a beachfront spa, open-air gym, yoga facilities and more.
A series of individual bungalows which can be customized, the Villas are meant to feel like a personal resort getaway connected by pools, gardens, and sandy pathways.
Custom lots will be released at a later stage. All three partners in the development will have a personal home on the property, demonstrating their commitment and love for this amazing site.
Pre-sales are underway for 25 beachfront Hotel Villa lots, with pricing starting around $12M. Buyers will have the choice of interior design finishes as well as a range of furniture options.
