Behind the Brand: David Martin

David Martin is CEO of the development firm Terra, the developer behind the Mr. C Hotel & Residences project in West Palm Beach. The project, being built in partnership with the Morrison family’s Sympatico Real Estate, is a 25-story luxury condominium and hotel that began construction in 2025 and is expected to be completed in 2027.

Branded Living caught up with David recently to ask him about this exciting new project:

Branded Living: The media often refers to Miami as “New York’s sixth borough” due to the influx of NY-ers. Do you see this trend influencing the development of Mr. C Residences West Palm Beach?

David Martin:  “We’re seeing significant interest from New York buyers, which aligns with the broader migration of financial firms, tech companies, and talent to West Palm Beach. Our residences cater to this trend, providing a refined, full-service lifestyle that meets the expectations of discerning buyers relocating from major metropolitan markets.”

BL: With many New Yorkers relocating to Florida, do they have different expectations from a luxury development compared to buyers from South America or other international markets?

DM: “New Yorkers are often relocating for tax benefits and lifestyle changes. They seek an urban feel—walkability, top dining, high design, culture, and full-service buildings that reflect Manhattan living but with better weather and a more relaxed pace. Latin American buyers view Miami as both a safe investment and a lifestyle destination. They prioritize security, luxurious finishes, family-friendly yet sophisticated amenities, and resort-style living with expansive waterfront views.”

BL: Could you expand on the Mr C brand? What does it stand for, and how is it reflected in these residences?

DM: “The Cipriani family has upheld a legacy of legendary hospitality for four generations. The Mr. C brand consistently maintains its ‘la dolce vita’ theme throughout its residences. We saw tremendous success with our first project, Mr. C Residences in Coconut Grove, which sold out completely. Now, our second venture together in West Palm Beach brings the same elegance, luxury, and timeless roots to the city center, creating a first-of-its-kind residential offering for this neighborhood.

These residences highlight the Mr. C brand’s signature attention to detail and sophistication, while also responding to their surroundings. In West Palm Beach, for example, the interiors and design draw inspiration from the local sailing culture and the vibrant energy of the city, all while capturing the elegance and lifestyle of life aboard a European yacht.”

BL: Can you describe the residences themselves—the layout, design, and overall concept? What amenities and services will be offered, and how do they cater to a luxury purchaser?

DM: “Mr. C Residences West Palm Beach is a 27-story tower featuring 146 private residences. Every home was designed with spacious, open floor plans and sweeping views of the city, the intracoastal, and the ocean. We drew inspiration from the Italian Riviera of the 1950s, combining classic Mediterranean glamour with modern elegance. Our goal was to create residences that feel luxurious yet welcoming—a true home and retreat for our buyers.

At Mr. C West Palm Beach, we’re curating a lifestyle defined by world-class hospitality and timeless sophistication. Future residents will enjoy the finest culinary offerings at Bellini Restaurant and Bellini Café, as well as in-residence dining that brings the Mr. C experience home. The private members’ Bellini Rooftop will offer an intimate setting to relax or gather with neighbors, complemented by an exceptional suite of amenities including a lap pool with cabanas, fitness center, library, and business lounge. With a private residential entrance and access to the Mr. C Hotel rooftop pool, bar, and lounge, the lifestyle we’re creating perfectly balances privacy and community.”

BL: Why was West Palm Beach chosen for this development? What does this city or area offer that Miami, for instance, does not?

DM: We chose West Palm Beach because the city is experiencing an incredible transformation. Over the past few years, it’s attracted wealthy newcomers, major financial firms, and world-class art, entertainment, and shopping. With the  expansion of  CityPlace and new top-tier office buildings and retail like Eataly, and with institutions like Vanderbilt University opening a graduate campus here, West Palm Beach is quickly becoming a hub of business, culture, and innovation.

At the same time, there’s a clear demand for luxury residences. West Palm Beach offers a combination that differs from Miami—an intimate, boutique luxury lifestyle with a thriving urban environment and waterfront access. As the first luxury condominium to rise in downtown West Palm Beach, Mr. C offers unparalleled walkability and access to urban amenities, making it the perfect opportunity for us at Terra to bring the fourth-generation Cipriani legacy to a city poised to become one of Florida’s most dynamic and desirable destinations.”
